The Earthquake Proves that WiMax Surpassed 3G Ultimately

The vice president of Intel, Ton Steenman, who was on the spot before the earthquake was coming said that the 9 magnitude earthquake in Japan on march 11 have proved that WiMax is more reliable than 3G cellular. The 3G networks were completely broken complete in the quake, while that of WiMax didn’t get interrupt and still worked for various kinds of application services like ATM, he said.

As for if the stability that WiMax showed could be an advantage in the rival with 4G technologies like LTE, Steenman expressed that most people thought cellular technology has reached to the age of 3G, but the truth is most areas in the world are still make use of 2G technologies, the time for 4G-LTE is not going to come until five to ten years later. WiMax has come into being and covers quite a lot of areas among the world.

Steenman affirms that WiMax is a very strong communication technology and it will enlarge its market continuously and successfully.
Whether WiMax is better than 3G or not is a question that bothering the whole telecom industry. 3G, a popular cellular technology all over the world, provide high speed data like video streaming, movies, online games etc. for users on their handsets. On the other hand, WiMax, a general broadband technology, is supposed to supply internet access with high data rates with the players on their computers.

The opponent opinion is that though WiMax is better in speed and coverage, the problem of non-availability, cost and difficulty of use should not be ignored.
