With regarding to automotive quality requirements, devices aimed to the automotive market have to be designed, validated, characterized, qualified, fabricated and supported specifically for automotive applications. Because cars have really long lifecycles, any flaws in this area are very serious in terms of maintenance time and customer service.

TrueAuto is a well-know automotive quality process for SMSC. When integrated circuits firstly made for utilizations, they have to be qualified according to the AEC-Q100, while minimum common requirements for the qualification of an automotive IC are covered. What’s more, AEC-Q100 mainly focuses on the qualification phase of the product cycle of an IC.
