TDK-Lambda Adding 24V Input, 100W Quarter Brick Modules to its Railway DC-DC Converter Line

TDK-Lambda Americas has expanded its railway DC-DC converter line by adding 24V input, 100W quarter brick modules CN100A24 Series that operate off a wide range of DC inputs from 14.4 to 36.0VDC to it. These quarter brick modules are widely used in the railway industry and for 24-volt vehicles. Being available with output voltages of 5V, 12V, 15V or 24VDC (adjustable ±10%), these fully-regulated and isolated power modules deliver exceptional performance.





Enabling users to design cost-effective EN50155 compliant systems without the risks associated with custom product designs and in a much shorter timescale, the CN100A24 DC-DC modules are suitable for both rolling stock and trackside equipment. TDK-Lambda not only offer higher input range versions of these modules such as CNA-110 with 60-160Vdc input range and 30W to 200W output ratings but also provide custom design/manufacturing services for customers who prefer to buy a complete turn-key system.

Designed for very harsh environments, the CN100A24 Series meet the stringent shock and vibration requirements of IEC61373 Category 1, Grade B. These baseplate-cooled power converters have standard pin-outs and provide full output power from -40 to +100°C at the baseplate without deratings. The 100-watt model CN100A24-12, for example, delivers 8.4 Amps at 12VDC with a conversion efficiency of 88% at full load. These quarter-brick modules measure 1.45 x 2.28 inches and are only 0.50 inch high.

As standard, the CN100A24 units are equipped with remote sense, remote on/off, overvoltage and overcurrent protection circuitry, and include TDK-Lambda’s 5-year warranty. All CN100A24 models have an input-to-output isolation of 3kVAC, are safety-approved to UL/CSA/EN60950-1 and carry the CE mark in accordance with the LV Directive.

These new 100-watt modules are available now with prices starting at $124.00 each in 100 piece quantities.
