HMC999, an ideal for test and measurement equipment and military EW and ECM applications up to 10 GHz, is recently introduced by Hittite Microwave Corporation.
As a GaN HEMT MMIC Distributed Power Amplifier, the HMC999 operates between 0.01 and 10 GHz. This wideband power amplifier provides 11 dB of gain, 47 dBm output IP3 at midband. For less demanding applications, the HMC999 can be operated from a drain voltage as low as +28V while still producing 5 Watts of saturated output power. When biased for maximum output power, the HMC999 consumes 1100 mA of quiescent current from a +48V supply, and achieves approximately 18% power added efficiency at saturation. The HMC999 amplifier provides 10 Watts of saturated power in a 7 mm² chip which equal to a power density of 1.5 W/mm² over 3 decades of bandwidth.
Designed to reliably operate into partially reflective loads and to tolerate very high incident power levels, the HMC999 is extremely robust. It is matched to 50 Ohms on-chip, and requires several external bias decoupling capacitors and an external bias tee for drain bias injection.
Hittite Microwave Corporation designs and develops integrated circuits (ICs), modules, subsystems, and instrumentation for technically demanding radio frequency, microwave, and millimeterwave applications worldwide.
Its product lines include amplifiers, attenuators, broadband time delay, cross point switches, data converters, direct current power management products, dielectric resonator oscillators, frequency dividers and detectors, frequency multipliers, high-speed comparators, high speed digital logic products, intermediate frequency signal ICs, interface, limiting amplifiers, mixers and converters, modulators and demodulators, multiplexers/demultiplexers, oscillators, passives, phase lock loops, phase lock loops with integrated voltage controlled oscillators, phase shifters, power conditioners, power detectors, sensors, switches, synthesizer ICs and instruments, transimpedance amplifiers, tunable filters, and variable gain amplifiers. The company also outsources wafer manufacturing to multiple third party fabricators and foundries. Its products are used in various applications and markets comprising automotive, broadband, cellular infrastructure, fiber optics, microwave and millimeterwave communications, military, space, and test and measurement.
