EM Research has recently released a dielectric resonator oscillator (DRO) replacement in high-reliability, ruggedized applications such as SATCOM, electronic warfare, GPS, radar, and telemetry known as the ESP-3200 phase-locked oscillator.
Just as its name implies, the ESP-3200 phase-locked oscillator operates at 3,200 MHz. And at 10 kHz its phase noise is less than –120 dBc/Hz and with a high stability of ±0.25 ppm. The device also features an extended operating temperature range of –40° to 85°C, low power consumption, and high vibration tolerance as it is designed for ruggedized ground mobile or airborne operation.
The unit is internal reference supplied and is able to provide 15-dBm output power and low spurs of less than –80 dBc. If there’s external frequency reference in for other circuits in the system, the internal reference can be optionally phase-locked for the external phase coherence accordingly. The general frequency of the product is usually a fixed number from 50 MHz to 26 GHz in a connectorized 2.25 x 2.25 x 1.00 DRO standard package. The package can be optionally hermetically-sealed.
EM Research manufactures high-performance standard and custom-designed frequency sources for commercial and military systems. The company specializes in miniature surface-mount, modular, and connectorized phase-locked oscillators and frequency synthesizers from 5 MHz to over 30 GHz.
Single frequencies to multi-octave band designs are available with excellent phase-noise characteristics and very low power consumption. Hybrid and hermetically-sealed frequency synthesizers from EM Research are ideally suited for military vehicles, UAV, and other high-reliability, high-vibration applications. EM Research offers products with optional RoHS compliance, lead (Pb) free and tin-mitigated designs. Our multi-purpose synthesizers are optionally available with RS-232 or USB serial interface.
