Intersil corp., the global semiconductor designer and manufacturer of high performance analog and mixed signals, announced a new current mode PWM controller—ISL6726. This component is simplified via functions integration and parts reduce. In addition, ISL6726 is reliable for special duty ratio of low external components voltage. The component is most suitable for isolation active clamp normal shock and asymmetrical half bridge converter topological application, such as telecommunication and DCE power-supply system.
In order to improve reliability, ISL6726 supports adjustable current peak limit and average current limit protection at the same time. It can make sure output in the safe range of working current. As for parallel or redundancy converters application, and battery charger or LED drive and other constant current applications, the method of average current limit can make sure stable load operation. In order to improve the reliability of synchronous rectifier in application, the controller can protect switching devices via clamping least duty ratio to prevent negative inductor current during load transient.
As for high power application, ISL6726 provides flexible and expandable solutions to support design multiplexing. It contains a dual direction synchronous selection via 180°phase shift to support interlace topology, which can lower RMS current and simplify heat dissipation management. The controller also contains soft start and soft close functions for limiting electrical stressing during soft start and close.
This controller supports active clamping normal shock topology design which is useful to improve conversion efficiency in the application of transformer isolated DC/DC conversion.
ISL6726 is priced at $2.6, and adopts 20 pins QSOP package. The minimal quantity is 1000 pieces. The related integrated circuit is MT7CA-2.
