Digital camera is in widespread use in the 21st century. Compared with film camera, digital camera can do many things. For example, watching pictures on the screen immediately after they are taken, storing thousands of images on a single small memory card, and deleting them to set free space. However, the two kind of cameras share the same optical system, by focusing light onto an image pickup device with a lens has a variable diaphragm. The diaphragm and shutter control the amount of light for the picture, the same as with film except the image pickup device is electronic not chemical.
Digital cameras are made in all kinds of shapes, sizes, prices and capabilities. Such as compact cameras and bridge digital cameras. Compact cameras are designed to be tiny and portable and particularly suitable for casual and snapshot use, they are easy to use, taking pictures poor in quality but compact and simple in style. Bridge are higher-end digital cameras that physically resemble DSLRs and share with them some advanced characteristics, but share with compacts the use of a fixed lens and a small sensor. Many bridge cameras have a manual focus mode so that in some cases a separate focus ring for greater control is available.
Many people would ask the question about whether or not their film cameras can be converted into digital ones, the answer is it depends on. For most 35 mm film cameras the answer is no, it will take too much time and money. For most conversions, to remove the back of the camera and replace it with a custom built digital unit, one need to give enough space for the electronics and allow a liquid crystal display to preview.
Another significant feature of digital camera is the resolution, which is often limited by the image sensor that turns light into discrete signals, replacing the job of film in traditional photography. The sensor is made up of millions of rooms that foundamentally count the number of photons that strike the sensor. This means that the brighter the image at a given point on the sensor, the larger the pixel, the more qualified the picture. The related integrated circuit is KDS120.
