Goal of LED Industry Increasing Global Competitiveness

The six departments include NDRC and the Ministry of Science and Technology have jointly released the Views of Semiconductor Energy Saving Industry Development to demonstrate clearly its goals. The average growth rate per annum of semiconductor lighting industry will be increasing 30 percent and functional lighting account for 20%. More and more large-scale enterprises will be emerging in this field with obviously enhanced capability of independent innovation. A LED lighting product has an inspiring development prospect due to their advantage of energy conservation. By the support of China government and the trend of low carbon economy, green lighting will be attached a great importance by China government and will generate strong market demand.

In general, China’s LED lighting industry has entered a new stage on a gigantic scale, of which the core technology product has reached the level of maturity with excellent quality and high reliability. As the rapid development of LED industry, however, there are three major issues should not be ignored: 1) LED lighting industry is overheating at the moment; 2) LED products quality is uneven; 3) LED solutions encounter some troubles in products development and research.

LED Street light is sort of symbolic product embodying its highly advanced technology content and core competitiveness. Whoever gets the international leading position on products will attain speech right and occupy both international and domestic market share in the future.

Despite as the boost of LED industry investment and production capacity, there are over 3000 LED firms in China currently, but 70 percent of them are specialized in the part of integrated applications lacking of core technology. As the result of small-scale, standard shortage and products quality uneven, domestic LED enterprises still have long way to go as compared to foreign companies. Therefore, it is of urgency to consider how do we improve the crucial competency effectively and push our enterprises into the competition of globalization. The related integrated circuit is M69030.
