Since the advent of television has been a relatively long time, there are many types of screens that come to our selection. The commonly seen is the cathode ray tube type. As the lightweight age has come into our life, there is another new type that has been produced, that is a screen using liquid crystal technology. The others rely on plasma displays.
A liquid crystal display is a device that is thin, light and flat. It uses the technology of active matrix display so that the outlook seems much smaller. The picture that it takes on is much clear than the average one. Thus, the television screens are usually made of this kind and the traditional cathode ray tube televisions are nearly out of market. Today, the liquid crystal display televisions are produced in a large scale and in a relatively low price with the advanced technology. In addition, another benefit of using this television is that it is very electricity saving due to the low heat dissipation and low power.
On the other hand, the LCD television also has some disadvantages, so the more advanced kind of television has been produced, that is the digital television that has the process of transmitting the electrical signals into digital signals. There also has the function of channel prediction. Digital televisions receive digital signals, thus can provide us with high quality of images and more channels are available too. Besides, with digital television, we can enjoy other services such as the on-line broadcast.
